When I was little girl I was afraid of everything. Are any of you like that?
My mom drank a LOT. and that caused gobs of problems between my mom and dad. He even had to tie her to the bed sometimes to keep her from harming herself. I think she must have had those bad dreams that drinkers have.
Anyway, whatever it was, I was scared a lot. I must admit I wasn't happy about those things that went on, but my older brother helped me to realize that it was maybe not OK, but that was how things were.
So, as I got older that fear stayed with me. I would walk to school backward!! Crazy stuff like that. I would scrub my face until it was bright red---and then put alcohol on it so that I wouldn't have any pimples. OOH how that would burn.
NOT good.
FEAR will make us do strange, crazy things.
One day two of my friends were playing in the trees. NO, they were NOT monkeys. We just climbed trees. Remember this is in the days before TV, WII, cell phones or computers.
We made out own games. I liked to climb trees, probably because my mom didn't come after me.
My point is this -- My friends told me that they had taken Jesus into their lives and I wanted to be like them -- because they were happy.
That's the day that confidence came into my life. Because, with Jesus on my side NOTHING can come against me!
CONFIDENCE galore. Churned up and put back into my mind.
I love it.
Do you want some -- let me know.
More later, Linda
